India, Uzbekistan seal long-term uranium supply deal during PM Modi visit | India News
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Sunday announced a long-term arrangement for uranium supply during their delegation-level talks at the Kuksaroy Presidential Palace in Tashkent.“We will also establish a long-term arrangement for the supply of uranium. Today, we are formalising three sister-city and sister-state arrangements. We should create a roadmap to fully realise their potential,” PM Modi said during the talks.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation in urban development, with Modi highlighting Uzbekistan’s ‘New Tashkent’ project and India’s GIFT City in Gujarat as areas for sharing expertise and best practices.“Mega-projects like ‘New Tashkent’ are underway in your country, while in India, we have developed GIFT City in Gujarat. We would be delighted to welcome a delegation from your country to study best practices and the use of technology in these developments,” he said.During his fourth visit to Uzbekistan, Modi was also conferred the Order of “Oliy Darajali Dustlik”, the country’s supreme state award, by Mirziyoyev in Tashkent. The two leaders shared a hug after the conferment.Modi had arrived in Tashkent on Saturday and was given a ceremonial welcome at the presidential palace. The two leaders also travelled together by car from the airport to the palace and held a dinner meeting.
